Although more ways of transport exist nowadays, people tend to use bikes more than before. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument regarding the benefits and drawbacks of using a bicycle as a transportation method.

Using a bicycle can help decrease emissions of these poisonous fumes. Another main problem in most cities all around the world is traffic and finding car parking places. By using bikes, this problem is also reduced. Another killing problem in this modern era is the inactivity of human beings. Compared with the past, people spend most of their time behind computer desks, office desks, car seats, watching TV, … This mode of inactivity will result in serious health problems. Cycling helps compensate for these harmful effects of inactivity. Another benefit of using a bicycle is saving money! By increasing the fuel prices worldwide, the prices of transportation like taxis and buses have increased significantly. By cycling, people can decrease their transportation expenses.

However, bicycles have many advantages but also some significant drawbacks. For example, one of the main problems of cycling in cities is the risk of accidents with vehicles. It will result in serious injuries or, in some cases, death. Another disadvantage is encountering polluted air. When people are cycling in the cities, they may breathe more poisonous gases in the air like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which are dangerous and harmful to human health. Another problem is the lack of unique paths and roads for cycling. There are no notable routes for bicycles in many cities. Defining and assigning specific bicycle routes can reduce the risk of accidents.

In conclusion, using a bicycle has many advantages like keeping people more active and healthy, helping to decrease air pollution and city traffic, and saving money by reducing transportation expenses. However, besides these benefits, there are some disadvantages like the risk of accidents with vehicles and encountering breath polluted air.
